The best project you will ever work on is you. I weighed 200 lbs by the time I was in 7th grade (13 years old). I was constantly picked on, viewed differently, limited and told what I couldn’t do. At any age, that has a huge impact on you. There were days where I’d look at myself in complete disgust, but instead of continuing on the path of being miserable, I decided to change.
I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but when it comes to anything in life you need to be persistent and stick to the goal. I started off with the way I ate, eliminating soda and gradually cutting down my portion sizes to normal. I allowed myself one cheat snack a week to keep me sane. Everyday I’d have the goal to reach a mile, whether that meant running and taking a break or speed walking. As time went on, I increased distance and pace. After three months of hard work, I had lost 45 lbs and excelled in all my extracurriculars!
Some time had passed and I continued to make progress, but I wanted to take my goals to the next level. Through my older brother, I was introduced to Juan Montoya, currently a trainer at BB3. Little did I know how much of an impact he would have on my life. Not only did he help me crush my goals, but he changed my mindset. There will always be obstacles in your life along with people who don’t want you to succeed, but he helped. I’ve learned how to live a healthier lifestyle and feel great. There’s no reason to wait because time is something you never get back. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
